Graduate Member (G.IIESMS)
The Graduate Member grade is for professionals who hold an NFQ Level 7 qualification (ordinary degree) or Lean Six Sigma Black Belt with a minimum of 2 years’ relevant professional experience. It represents a significant step in your professional development, recognising both academic achievement and practical application.
Graduate Members are typically recent graduates building their careers, healthcare managers, health and safety managers, or professionals who have combined formal education with practical experience in one of IIESMS’s five specialist disciplines.
This grade is for professionals holding an NFQ Level 7 qualification with at least 2 years’ experience in industrial engineering, fire safety, facilities management, safety and health, or healthcare.
Who Is This Grade For?
Recent Graduates
Holders of an ordinary degree (NFQ Level 7) in engineering, fire safety, occupational health and safety, facilities management, or healthcare with 2 years’ professional experience.
Healthcare Managers
Professionals managing safety, compliance, or operational functions in healthcare settings who hold a Level 7 qualification.
Safety Managers
Health and safety managers with a degree-level qualification and at least 2 years’ hands-on experience in workplace safety.
How to Apply

Continuing Professional Development
Graduate Members must complete 25 hours of CPD annually, split equally between formal and informal activities. Formal CPD includes accredited training, conferences, academic study, and professional examinations. Informal CPD includes mentoring, self-directed learning, sector group meetings, and project-based learning. CPD records are audited every 3 years.
Progression Pathway
Graduate Members can progress to Member (M.IIESMS) by achieving an NFQ Level 8 qualification with 3 years’ experience, or Lean Six Sigma Black Belt with 3 years’ experience. From Member, the pathway leads to Fellow (F.IIESMS). Graduate Members may also pursue discipline-specific certified grades.
